Insurance on your Tires?

So you've just put new tires on your car, truck, van, motorcycle, or whatever it is that you drive. You've spent a good chunk of money on these tires. The question is, do you get the extra warranty/ insurance on them.

This was the question that faced me not long ago. Now the tires that I had purchased already came with some insurance. If I got a flat, they would patch the tire, and put it back on for free. However, if the tire was unrepairable, it wasn't covered.

The extra insurance policy was for full replacement with any flat tire. If they couldn't fix the flat, they'd put a new tire on, free of charge. The price for this extra insurance was 25% the cost of each tire. This to me at the time seemed like too much money. I decided that I was going to take my chances. BIG MISTAKE! Within 6 months of having the tires, somehow I managed to get a flat traveling down the highway. Before I noticed what had happened, I wore down the inside wall of the tire. Destroying the tire past the point of being repaired. One-hundred and nineteen dollars later, I realized that I really should have bought that insurance policy. Don't make the same mistake I made. Spend the few extra bucks and get the insurance for your tires. Most tires are supposed to last 50,000 to 100,000 miles. That is a long time to play the cross your fingers game.

Good luck in your endeavors in the automotive world. Be smart! Sometimes a few extra dollars up front will save you a lot of money down the road.

Dont be a copycat. Don't make the mistakes I do!
